You are here because you are in pain.
Maybe you have tried a lot of things already. Maybe your doctor has not found a clear answer. Maybe you are just tired of being told to manage it and live with it.
Here is the thing: pain always happens for a reason.
And when you find that reason? You can actually do something about it. Real something. Not just cope.
That is exactly what this site is for.
Your body is smart. It follows natural laws. When something hurts, there is a reason behind it. Find the reason, address it, and your body can heal.
Muscles and soft tissues are the most common cause of physical pain. And they are also the most overlooked. Muscles do not show up on x-rays, so they often get missed entirely. By everyone. Even good doctors.
We do not believe in just masking pain. We believe in getting to the cause.
And we believe you deserve to actually understand what is happening in your own body. Simple language. Real explanations. No jargon, no confusion.
Simple Pain Relief is written by certified practitioners, credentialed professionals, and people with real lived experience of chronic pain.
Every contributor brings something specific. Every piece of content is written to help you understand your body, not just follow instructions blindly.
We explain the why behind everything. Because when you understand why you hurt, the path forward becomes clear. That is the whole point.
Hi! I'm Kathryn.
I have been helping people reduce or eliminate their physical pain since 1993. More than 30,000 therapeutic sessions. Quite a few years. And I am still learning!
I specialise in natural pain relief. Not "pain management." Actual pain relief.
Sometimes the best the medical community can do is help you manage your pain. That is what they learned in medical school. And they do their best. But sometimes there are other options. You will find them here.
I started out as a plain relaxation massage therapist, because that is what massage schools typically teach. And then everything changed.
I attended a workshop with a brilliant instructor from Florida. He explained the structural connection between the pelvis and the skull. (Scoliosis sits right in between, which meant a lot to me personally.) I was mesmerised. Completely hooked! Bodies are logical! I love logic!
He was the founder of St. John Neuromuscular Massage Therapy (now called Neurosomatic Therapy). I took every one of his seminars. Most of them multiple times, because I wanted to really understand it. Not just learn it. Understand it.
And I did. Bodies follow logic. Beautiful, elegant logic. Once you see it, you cannot unsee it!
I went from a solo practice to building a team of 12 therapists. And across all those sessions, with all those clients, I kept learning what actually works.
Here is the other thing: I dealt with my own pain too. Scoliosis. Chronic migraine headaches. I am not speaking from textbooks. I have been where you are.
I am not a doctor. I want to be completely clear about that. But I understand how bodies get into pain. And I have the time to share what I know, in plain language, so that you can understand it too.
My goal is simple. I want you to feel better. To have less pain and more energy and more ability to do the things you love.
I have been in your shoes. I understand. I would be honoured to walk with you on this journey, one layer at a time.
Because you deserve to feel better!

Naomi holds a Bachelor of Science with a major in Microbiology and Laboratory Medicine, and a minor in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
She also lives with hip dysplasia and sciatic nerve pain.
So she brings two things to this work: a deep scientific understanding of the body, and the very real, very personal experience of what chronic pain feels like day to day. The desperation of it. The exhaustion of it. And the genuine relief when something finally works.
As site editor, Naomi is reviewing and updating content across Simple Pain Relief to make sure everything is accurate, current, and genuinely useful. She is also a web designer, so she looks after how the site feels to use as well.
She loves learning about how the human body works. (It really does show.)
We are not doctors. Nothing on this site replaces professional medical care.
If your pain is severe, sudden, or unexplained, please see your doctor or a specialist.
What we offer here is education, practical tools, and real experience. The kind of knowledge that can genuinely change things for you, when you are ready to dig in.
We hope it does.
